Quotable Quotes

I cannot believe Gracie is old enough to be saying the things she says now....On one hand she is so inquisitive, creative, and brilliant in the questions she asks. She is trying to understand how things work from electronics to relationships to God. I love it! She is all day either questioning, or giving us her own answers. But, there is a dark side to it as well.....and it's not pretty. Because it's usually directed at me. I remember doing this with my mom (heck, sometimes I think I'm still doing that). I guess it's her asserting her independence, and I am constantly in her life so I'm also an easy target for unleashing frustration and confusion. Ugh. That's fine, it's really not that often so that's nice for me. I have learned in the nick of time to forgive, not to retaliate. Which is my natural response. Teach and forgive, teach again and forgive, teach again and...forgive,......teach....again.....

Today:
Me: "Oh ya I need to go do that, wait maybe I'll do this first..." (thinking out loud...)
Gracie: "Mom! Don't talk out loud! Talk in your brain. Like me."
Me: "Why can't I think out loud?"
Gracie: "Because! It's annoying!"

Gracie: "Mom, I don't want you."
Me: "Why don't you want me?"
Gracie: "I don't like you."
Me: (clearly I need to learn a better response to these types of statements) "Well then why are you hanging out with me right now?!"
Gracie: "You're right" She heads back to the toy room to play with the boys.

"Why don't girls have the priesthood?"
"If someone couldn't breathe with their mouth, we could use this tube to make a hole in their lips and then they could be able to through the tube!" (excellent problem-solving)
"Where does dirt come from?"
"What happens to plants when they die?"
"How do text messages get sent?"
"If everyone is praying to Heavenly Father at the same time, how does He hear all of them??"

She is sweet.
